I have been to Chicago a couple of times. It is a big city and I enjoyed my visits, but I never would have figured it for being one of the 50 greenest cities in the United States. More surprising to me is the fact that it was chosen as the 9th greenest city. How did it get that high on the list?
Read what Popsci.com says about how Chicago made it to number 9: "In addition to the 12,000 acres Chicago has devoted to public parks and waterfront space, the U.S. Green Building Council has awarded four city projects with a “Platinum” rating, its highest award. Also, Chicago's power plants produce twice the power with only a third of the carbon."
I think that if Chicago can get that high on the list that any other city can get there too. Now I am going to see why my city is nowhere to be found on the list and then I am going to City Hall to raise hell about it.
