How to Know If a Product is Green

It can be overwhelming to go to the grocery store and shop with an eye toward choosing products that are environmentally friendly. How can you know if that product, which claims to be eco-friendly, really lives up to its claims?

Now, there is a website that actually helps us answer those questions. GoodGuide.com rates hundreds of products and tells you they can help you find safe, health and green products. There are a few dozen categories and when you click on a product, you are taken to a page where you can find out the health and nutrition rating of that product as well as the environmental performance and social performance.

Good Guide also alerts the reader to any certifications the product has received and even gives you recommendations of other products you might look at in case the one you are looking at is less than desirable. Reviews of the product are also presented and comparisons to other similar products are given too. The nutrition label is pasted into the review making it a very informative guide.

Finally, up to the minute news regarding issues, news and recalls is right there on page one so you know the Good Guide site is relevant and timely. I really like this site and have bookmarked it so that I can use it when I have a question regarding green products. Check it out.
