You may think your old car cannot be sold and you might be thinking about sending it to the scrap heap. That causes some obvious problems with landfills. The following items can be very harmful to the environment but can be recycled by the scrap dealer:motor oil

Even taking those items out of the equation, much of the foam and plastics end up getting shredded and put into landfills. What can be done to keep this from happening?
Donate your car to a charity. You get a receipt for a tax deduction and they either sell it at auction or to an auto recycler. They receive a small amount of money that they would otherwise have missed out on. You win, they win but, ultimately, the environment wins because this might possibly be one less automobile with parts ending up in landfills.
