The Truth About Green Jobs

The media has really jumped on the green bandwagon. It seems almost every commercial and public service announcement has some sort of green message. We hear a lot about green jobs and it seems like these jobs must be in great demand, but are they really? Following is a remark from a man who owns a green business. It is the best description of green jobs' prospects that we have read so we present it to you here:

"The reality of "green jobs" is that they make up only a minuscule portion of the job market and the availability varies greatly based on geography. The media attention is much greater than the public demand for "green" in general. This has been true for years. When we hear of the dramatic increase in demand for green we are kidding ourselves. If you sold one green widget last year, and two green widgets this year you have a 100% increase. Sounds great, but you still only sold 2 widgets! I own a green company, and fully support the movement's importance. But, we can't kid ourselves that this is "sweeping America". The changes are going to be slow, require an incredible amount of effort, and will likely not make noticeable changes for decades."
