Baking soda is a very mild abrasive that is actually the ultimate green cleaner. It is cheap and the best thing about it is that it will not harm the environment. Here are some suggestions for the use of baking soda as a green cleaner:1. Clean countertops, appliances and other surfaces with just a small dab of baking soda on a damp cloth.
2. 1/2 cup of warm water and 3 tablespoons baking soda mixed in will be a great cleaner for the inside and outside of refridgerators.
3. You can brighten up chrome with just a small mix of baking soda on a wet cloth.
4. Clean the inside of your oven by moistening the walls and sprinkling baking soda on them and letting it sit for one hour before wiping it off.
5. Use baking soda on mildew in the shower and on shower curtains. Add enough water to turn the baking soda into a paste and spread it on the surfaces to sit for awhile. Use an old toothbrush to clean the grout between the tiles with the paste.
6. Pour 1/2 cup baking soda down your kitchen or bathroom drain followed by 1/2 cup vinegar and then pour some boiling water. This combination breaks down fatty acids that block drains leaving it smelling fresh.
