Brita has a commercial that tells you that plastic water bottles will last forever in a land fill and that you should use their filtered water solution. Of course, what they don't tell you is that their plastic filters will also last forever in a landfill. As a result of pressure from environmental protection groups, they will now offer a program that will recycle those plastic filters. Actually a company called Presrve will recycle those used plastic filters along with any # 5 polypropolene plastic products.
Preserve already use # 5 plastics in making toothbrushes, razor handles and kitchen handles. The partnership with Brita will just make more items that could and should be recycled to actually make it out of landfills and back into a recycled product.
Let's hear it for one more company who has become more environmentally responsible.
