The answer to the title above is probably not and the reason is a very simple one. As the credit crisis deepens, we are also seeing a drop in petroleum prices. That one reason alone will probably create a desire by many people to hold on to their gas guzzling vehicles. Sure, the credit crisis is making it more difficult for people to trade their vehicles and obtain a new one, but many people who said they wanted to get rid of their SUVs when gas was at $4 a gallon, now say they think they are happy they held on to them.Of course, as the economy gets worse, it might just make travel drop drastically and that will help the environment as a reduction in harmful emissions will be cut too, but the response we are hearing more and more is that when gas drops below $3, people are more inclined to take that trip they were going to postpone. For that reason alone, Christmas travel may be up.
